Signet Classics Essay Contest
Signet Classics is hosting their 22nd Annual Student Scholarship Essay Contest, in which five high school juniors or seniors can each win a $1,000 scholarship award to be used toward their higher education plus a Signet Classics library for their school. Essays must be submitted by a high school English teacher on behalf of students who write an essay on one of five topics for this year’s competition book, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriett Jacobs. Essay topics are posted on penguin.com/scessay. Deadline for submission is April 14, 2018.
The America Library of poetry national student contest
The America Library of Poetry is holding their 22nd annual Nation Student Poetry Contest. 36 prizes are awarded across four divisions. Please see their website at libraryofpoetry.com for more details. Submission deadline is April 30, 2018.
Friedlander Upstander award
The Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County is presenting their 8th Annual Friedlander Upstander Award. Every year, the HMTC honors middle and high school students across Long Island who stand up for others and do not allow bigotry, hatred, or intolerance to happen with intercession. Nassau county library association essay and art contest
The Intellectual Freedom Committee of the Nassau County Library Association is hosting their 14th annual Essay and Art Contest, open to all students under the age of 19 who attend school in Nassau County. The theme for this year's contest is: "What important life lesson did you learn from a favorite book, story, or movie?" Entries must be submitted by April 12, 2018.
newsroom by the bay at stanford university
Newsroom by the Bay is a week-long digital journalism workshop at Stanford University. During their stay, students will participate in a San Francisco reporting expedition, hear from guest speakers, and participate in multimedia reporting. The program is from July 1st to July 8th.
